The Holy Father’s prayer Intentions for the month of October from “Mission Today” workers and the unemployed

That all workers may receive respect and protection of their rights, and that the unemployed may receive the opportunity to contribute to the common good.

Pastoral Area Changes: As part of Wigan Deanery changes St. Jude’s and St. Aidan’s are to join together to form one parish to be known as “The Parish of Saint Jude and Saint Aidan”. Our new parish will have one Parish Priest with one administration and two church buildings. It is hoped that this will happen around the beginning of Advent but the exact date is not known as it is dependent on various building adaptations and other changes across the Deanery. Our new Parish Priest, Fr. John Causey, is very much looking forward to joining us and supporting us as we move forward together. Canon MacNally in retirement will reside in St. Aidan’s presbytery.
The Catenian Association are holding a fund raising evening for Diabetes UK and the British Lung Foundation in St.Jude’s Social Club on Friday 24th October at 7.30pm to which all are invited. Tickets are available at £5 from Harold Trowbridge Tel. 375216
Today we have a Mandatory collection for A.P.F. on World Mission Day. Please take a leaflet this week and a Gift Aid form for return next week. Thank you
Today is week 4 of the Annual Mass Count
Mission Boxes In accordance with the Safeguarding regulations Mission boxes must now be brought to church to be emptied as collectors are no longer allowed to enter people’s homes. A reminder will be put on the newsletter when boxes are required to be brought to church. Thank you for your co-operation.
The Rosary is recommended for prayer in the month of October.
Baptisms at St. Aidan’s Baptisms normally take place in the proper parish church of the parents of the child to be baptised. An exception may be made when St. Aidan’s is the normal place of worship of someone who lives outside the parish i.e. that they regularly attend Mass here. The permission of the Parish Priest of their home parish is, however, still required. A previous residence or association with the parish is not just cause for an exception in these circumstances.
