Easter Message

You are most welcome to our Website.  On behalf of our parish family, and on my own behalf, I sincerely wish you and your loved ones a very happy, peaceful and restful Easter. For the Christian, Easter is very special.  In fact, Easter is the most important feast in the whole Christian year.  It is a day of rejoicing, a day of hope, the day which gives meaning to our religious beliefs. St Paul says: “if Christ has not been raised . . . .  our faith is in vain” (1 Cor 15:14), and later Paul categorically states: “but Christ has in fact been raised from the dead”  (1 Cor 15:20).  In fact, I would invite you to read the whole of 1 Corinthians Ch 15. . . The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the central event in the history of Christianity and, indeed, of the whole world.  The Resurrection is not a symbol.  It’s an historic fact. . . When the Apostles began to preach at Pentecost, they didn’t start talking about ‘the Babe of Bethlehem’, or ‘the young man of Nazareth’. Rather, they stood up before the whole world and, at the risk of their own lives, proclaimed the awesome fact, “He has risen.  He is alive!” . . On Easter Day we are celebrating life: that Christ is alive for me right now in my heart, my home, my community. We show that Easter is real, that Christ is alive and risen for us: when we make our own life a source of light for others; when we heal and encourage; when we are more compassionate and kind; when we let the light of the risen and alive Christ shine in and through us.  That was what St Augustine meant when he said: “We are Easter men and women and ‘Alleluia’ is our song!”
