Christmas Collection As in recent years the collection will be divided between CAFOD and NUGENT, and gift aid envelopes will be available for both charities. The collection will be open until after Christmas.

Sunday 24th Dec. 8pm Carol Service then 8.30pm Vigil mass at St Aidan’s followed by refreshments in the Parish Centre.

Monday 25th Dec 10am Mass at St. Jude’s

Would anyone who is planning to attend either mass at St Jude’s and is able to offer others a lift or anyone who would like to attend but has transport issues please make themselves known to any member of the P.P.C./ Friends of St. Aidan’s after Masses during Advent. For those unfamiliar with the location/layout/parking arrangements at St. Jude’s information is available in the porch.

Advent Holy Hour Monday 11th December at 2pm in Sacred Heart Church. During the service there will be opportunity for individual confessions.
Canon MacNally writes :- I am deeply grateful and appreciable of all at St. Aidan’s for your prayers ,cards and very generous gift last Sunday – the official day of my semi-retirement. Be assured of my prayers and support always.
CAFOD Carol Service St. Teresa’s Church college Rd, Upholland Thursday 14th December7.30pm with choirs & musicians from local schools followed by wine & mince pies. Also Fair trade stall, CAFOD world gifts & other Christmas goodies on sale
CAFOD Fun Run Wednesday 27th at Wavertree park & athletics centre. Wellington Rd L15 4LE at 1pm, please arrive at 12.00pm prizes for best fancy dress. See poster in the porch for further details or ring CAFOD office 01512284028

U.C.M   part of the UCM’s preparation for Christmas, there will be a performance by children from St. Aidan’s primary school in Church at 7pm. All parishioners are welcome to this.  UCM raffle – tickets still available. Prizes – Fairtrade hamper, Whisky, Christmas cake & other prizes. To be drawn Sun 17th in the club after Mass. Thank you

The Holy Father’s prayer Intentions for the month of November from “Mission Today” Christians in Asia

That Christians in Asia, bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed, may promote dialogue, peace and mutual understanding especially with those of other religions

From the 1st Sunday of Advent 3 new parishes will be created in Wigan and 1 parish will remain.

The present geographical Parishes of St. John’s, St Patrick’s, & St. William’s will be formed into one new parish called St william’s. the parish will use the churches of St John’s & St Patrick’s. Fr Ian O’Shea will be the parish priest.

The present geographical parishes of St. Cuthbert’s, St. Edward’s and Sacred heart will be formed into one new parish called St. Edward’s. The parish will use the churches of Sacred Heart & St. Cuthbert. Fr. Aidan Kelly will be the parish priest & Dean.

The present Parishes of ST. Jude & ST. Aidan will be formed into one new parish called St Jude & St. Aidan. The parish will use the churches of St. Jude & St Aidan. Fr John Causey will be the parish priest.

The present parish of St. Mary’s will remain for the time being as a parish. Fr. John Johnson will remain as parish priest.

This is a new start for all the new parishes. I urge all the parishioners to embrace this opportunity & to pray for the work of the Church in Wigan.

The Cafod Memorial Mass for deceased supporters of CAFOD will take place at Sacred Heart , Liverpool Rd Ainsdale Merseyside PR8 3BP on Saturday 25th November at 5.30pm Tea , coffee & biscuits will be served afterwards. Celebrant Fr. Tony Slingo….

Union Catholic Mothers (UCM) Bi-Monthly Mass to be held at St Aidan’s Church, Wednesday 7th March 2018. Celebrant Fr. David Potter, UCM Chaplin and members from across the Archdiocese.
